Post Christmas Post

After being so healthy for 3 whole years, the flu has finally hit me this year. I even got a flu shot, but I was probably too tired for it to be in effect. But I couldn’t just waste my Christmas. I got together with my close friends and we had a little Christmas dinner/countdown. It was nice and rosy and comfy cozy (this song just won’t leave my head). I always enjoy low-key intimate gatherings more than the huge 100 people parties, so I had an amazing time with my close ones! This might even be our last Christmas to spend together, so it was really meaningful to us.

We went to Swish By Han, one of my favourite restaurants, and thankfully, they were open! The Food is amazing, it’s Korean Ssam, which is meat wrapped in lettuce or cabbage. Great food with amazing friends: more than enough!!

We went over to our friend’s house, and as you can see, she’s a child in heart and has so many stuffed animals. I didn’t even recognize the Fluffy from Despicable Me, and she was offended. So the four of us (one of them refusing to take a picture), spent the night just sipping wine and coolers!

I forgot how warm Christmas was, with family and friends, heartwarming gifts, and just enough alcohol! It started to snow at 12am right on the dot, so we got a white Christmas as well! We got everything we asked for!

Electric blue

Christmas is tomorrow, but working in retail makes you feel like it’s boxing day for 2 weeks already. I need to shop, you need to shop, everyone needs to shop. My friendsie and I were shopping for gifts to send to Korea for one of our friends who we haven’t seen for a while. The shopping part was a bit crazy, and took all the Christmas spirits from me. Usually during the winter, I used to like wearing very subtle and quiet colours, but I wanted to try something different since this Christmas felt so different.

Despite the madness in the mall, some people were in lovely Christmas spirits. My friend and I went to the baked goods store to purchase some for our friend, and we were rambling on about our maracon cravings. We met a pastry chef while waiting in line and we discussed the beauty of desserts. He recommended their hot chocolate, which is super rich and sweet, and ended up treating us on these dreamy cups! They were amazing, and I think one of the most pleasant suprises we’ve been treated with during Christmas!

My friend ❤ wearing a Michael Kors tote and a coat from Aritzia, holding one of our gifts for my friend in Korea! Hoping it’s a great read as much as it was a great movie to watch!!

grey top from Urban Outfitters

Blue Cafe Capri from J. Crew

necklace and grey snood from Korea

Shoes from Topshop

Wool coat from Artizia

So I bought these pants because I wanted more colour on the bottom, but they were always so difficult to wear. I’ve purposely looked for a boyfriend fit as well, but my legs, as you can see, aren’t super long. But they’re such popping colours, and always look good with more neutral colours like grey and black.

I’m guessing as the weather gets colder, I won’t be able to wear this bright pair, so i decided to do it before the cold hits.

Merry Christmas Eve! Hope it’s sweet and rich like hot chocolate.

The Art of Juxtaposition

I love the idea of a paradoxical juxtaposition, especially in fashion. Matchy matchy is always a safe choice, but I think I have way more fun trying on things that go against each other. Something that you wouldn’t even think of going together could make a perfect combination. I guess you would still have to keep in mind the balance of your outfit as well, but that’s what fashion’s all about for me: the unexpected visual shock.

Red top from Korea, jeggings from American Eagle, belt (similar here) and cocoon coat from J. Crew, necklace from Korea.

American Eagle has really comfy casual jeans, jeggings and all. They’re real cheap, and a lot of people think the store is tacky, but there are some real good finds. A lot of people were surprised to hear they were from AE. They’re even cheaper now cause evvverything’s on sale!!! Great chance to get goodies!
